GYA has already conducted one very successful event in 2010 with a morning of Yoga in the Park. At 8am on Sunday February 21 a large group of GYA teachers and students met at a lovely park in Greenwood to enjoy the practice of Yoga in the outdoors. This free event was presented by Margaret, the owner and principal teacher at GYA, to facilitate everyones experience of the beauty and deeper connection with nature as they practiced some traditional Yoga asanas, pranayam, meditation and relaxation techniques.

Marjasana in park

This event was a true experience of mindfulness for all who attended as with each asana participants were encouraged to be mindful of their stance on the earth, the prana in the air from the trees and grass around them, the gentle morning sunshine upon their body, the gentle cooling breeze, the rustle of the leaves and sounds of birds communicating with each other as they flew from tree to tree.

After the morning Yoga session Margaret and her husband Keith provided fresh fruit and water for a light and healthy refreshment as all participants joined together in friendly conversation with GYA teachers and fellow Yoga students.

In 2009 a number of successful events were also conducted including:

  • Pregnancy, Birthing and AfterCare with Yoga and Natural Therapies
  • Asana Mythology
  • Occupational Safety & Health in the Yoga Room
  • In-House Yoga, Relaxation & Meditation Retreat
  • Yoga Practices Suitable for Depression and Anxiety
